Athletic Training

At Precision Orthopaedic Specialties, we understand the importance of keeping student-athletes at the top of their game. Our athletic training services are designed to support young athletes through every sport and season, ensuring they receive the care they need both on and off the field.

Our athletic trainers work closely with other health care professionals to provide emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

What is Athletic Training?

Athletic training involves the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sports-related injuries. Athletic trainers work closely with athletes to maintain their physical health, ensuring they can perform at their best while minimizing the risk of injury.

Our certified athletic trainers are fully qualified to provide the quality service you expect. They have either a bachelor’s or a master’s degree from an accredited college or university where they have studied athletic training, sports medicine, pre-medical sciences, kinesiology, exercise physiology, biology, exercise science, or physical education.

In addition, each certified athletic trainer has studied human anatomy, human physiology, biomechanics, pharmacology, exercise physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, and psychology/counseling. Our athletic trainers can provide accurate evaluations and science-based rehabilitation. They help prevent injury and assist athletes to return to competition quickly and safely.

How Our Athletic Training Services Work

At Precision Orthopaedic Specialties, the goal of our athletic trainers is to provide the best care and treatment to our local athletes by preventing, recognizing, managing, and rehabilitating sports injuries. They work alongside coaches to implement injury prevention programs and are the first responders when injuries occur.

The program currently serves two high schools in the Chardon area by providing onsite visits and event coverage. Our athletic trainers are present at every practice and game, providing immediate care and attention to athletes. This continuous support ensures that student-athletes receive the highest standard of care right when they need it.

At the core of our athletic training program’s success is the long-standing relationship between our certified athletic trainers and our team of physicians in cooperation with other healthcare professionals, athletic administrators, coaches, and parents.
